Dorota Oza Karecka Photography
Photoblog, portraits, nudes, family portraits
From the monthly archives:
By an accident I walked in to an old bookstore today.. Spent about 2 h there in the photography section…Brought home a beautiful album with the most amazing portrait photographs from eighteen hundreds…
It’s just amazing, I can’t stop looking at them.. mostly family portraits but lots of them are telling the stories.. this all dressed up lady feeding the chickens, her husband fishing, the kid playing in the garden in the most uncomfortable dress you could possibly imagine.. shopping, holiday, funerals, weddings, kids plays, boats, celebrating birth of a new family member, playing with the dogs, summer house in the country and winter house in town…. etc… it’s like getting to know these people…
Funny… Some of them are completely out of focus, most of them actually breaking all the “photography books rules”… and who cares…
I wish I could move back in time and do that, could do some experimental photography of my own family without people telling me about the advantages of a digital camera, without hundreds of “photographers” here and there telling me i’m wasting my time and money on these stupid medium format photos, and the traditional photography.. it’s useless, you can get all these effects in photoshop anyway (for free)… and family portraits… they only good for a family albums..
and i’m asking.. what the f… is wrong with the family albums?? that’s how it all started…
